Counseling or Life Coaching is . . .
Life Coaching is similar to Counseling but does not address mental and emotional health [clinical] issues-- symptoms, interventions, or treatment
More often than not, coaching involves life planning, goal setting, problem solving, and evaluation of client aspirations, skills, and experience. Strategies are mutually agreed upon and there is a built-in means of accountability.
Outcomes of this therapeutic process include increased awareness and understanding; improved decision-making, coping and communication skills; increased self-esteem and autonomy. The process helps free the client to move toward productive goals in harmony with interests, beliefs and values.
The holistic/transpersonal approach recognizes that mind, body and spirit are intertwined and each affects the other. Balance and harmony promote healing, well-being and growth. The counselor uses a variety of techniques to support the client and guide the process. These may include imagery, the arts, movement, breathwork, bibliotherapy, role playing and behavioral "homework" as well as "talk therapy." Referrals to other healthcare providers may be used to further the well-being of the client.

Transition
Working with Dr. Pat was a tremendously healing experience for me. Through her gently prodding approach to talk therapy, creative guided imagery activities, rmeditation exercises, reading assignments, and journaling, Dr. Pat helped me reshape my future, heal my past, and discover a newfound sense of esteem, courage, hope and happiness that had long been buried under the routinization of life, the sorrow of lost dreams and the youthful regrets of not knowing. Her compassionate style coupled with direct and forthright feedback about what is realistic and what is not make her a winning therapist for anyone experiencing transition, trauma, depression, and confusion. I will always be grateful to Dr. Pat for her belief that I could once again become all of who I was meant to be.
